During manufacturing, contamination of food by metal fragments from crushing and processing machinery is a major safety issue in the food industry. Metal detectors for this purpose are widely used and integrated into production lines.
In clothing and garment factories, metal testing is performed after garments are fully sewn and before packaging to check for metal contamination (needles, broken needles, etc.) as required for security reasons.

Operating Principles
The food/industrial metal detector operates on a 3-coil design principle, utilizing an AM transmit coil and two receive coils positioned on either side of the transmitter. This configuration enables detection of very small metal contaminants as small as 1 mm or smaller.
The coil arrangement creates an opening through which products (food, plastic, pharmaceuticals, etc.) pass. This design produces equal but mirrored signals on the two receiver coils that effectively cancel each other out when no metal is present.
